Cablevision's Rainbow DBS satellite broadcasting arm (offering the Voom digital broadcast service) was sold to EchoStar in January 2005 for US$200 million. The sale included Cablevision's satellite - Rainbow 1 - and federal licenses to construct and operate satellite services over 11 frequency channels. It also included the RDBS ground facility in Black Hawk, South Dakota.
